“Show me a world where heroes don’t fall, and we can believe that love conquers all.” Family Folk Band The Fairyflies perform a song written in 1982, 1993 & 2007 by Lori R. Lopez, for the first time!

“LOVE CONQUERS ALL has evolved through the years, starting as a Love Ballad containing a few Social Justice references in 1982. Eleven years later it became all about Social Ills. In 2007 and 2020 I expanded the song, adding Verses Three and Four with a second Bridge between. For me it is both a personal statement on periods of my life and a wider message with a variety of themes that include Children’s Rights, Animal Rights, War, Politics, Violence, Disease, Poverty and other aspects of Social Justice. I hope it will resonate and speak for many.” ~ Lori R. Lopez

This live musical performance was recorded in 2020 and features the family trio singing and Lori playing guitar. They plan to keep recording and releasing original music written by Lori decades ago as well as new music.

The song lyrics can be found below and also published in POETIC REFLECTIONS: KEEP THE HEART OF A CHILD, a collection of verse by Lori R. Lopez

Love Conquers All

(Words & Music – 1982/1993/2007/2020)

What is my vision coming to

I can’t distinguish lies from true?

It’s like the past has blinded me

And shadow’s all that I can see

Show me a road

That leads us beyond

To a place without hate

Where the light can be found

Show me a world

Where heroes don’t fall

And we can believe

That love conquers all

What will it take to change the lives

Of those with so much pain inside

That they can’t see the piercing sword

Because they can’t feel anymore?

Show me a crowd

I’ll be thinking about

The innocent ones

Who have suffered enough

Show me a cure

For each malady

Then look through my eyes

Hope is all I can see

Show me a world

Where heroes don’t fail

And we can believe

That love will prevail

What is my vision coming to

That I can glimpse no one but you?

Half of the mold for who I’d be

A cause of great adversity

Show me a way

To weather the storm

So I can reach out

And keep others warm

Show me a world

I still haven’t seen

Unless there is someone

On whom I can lean

Unless there is someone

On whom we can lean

At times the best are lost so soon

And others act like they’re immune

From Leaders to the worst Police

Forsaking vows and breaking peace

Show me a world

Where heroes don’t fall

And we can believe

That love conquers all

I know there’s a world

Where heroes don’t fall

And we can believe

That love conquers all.
